Question

please solve all

Find all values x = a where the function is discontinuous. F (x) is discontinuous at x = . (Use a comma to separate answers as needed.) Determine whether the following function is continuous at a. Use the continuity checklist to justify your answer. State whether the indicated function is continuous at - 5. Use the definition of continuity to determine whether f is continuous at a. Determine whether the following function is continuous at a. Use the continuity checklist to justify your answer. Determine the value of the constant a for which the function f (x) is continuous at -2.

Explanation / Answer

In graph At x=1, -2, -5 function is discountinous because function has sharp points on these x values and these are not differentiable so it is not continous.

f(x) = sqrt(x-8). This function gives complex numbers for x<8 so non-continous at x<8

r(t) has defined at t = -5. So it is differentiable at t=-5 and we can say it is continuous

f(x) has defined at x= 14. So it is differentiable at x=14 and we can say it is continuous

y has defined at a=4. So it is differentiable at a=4 and we can say it is continuous

f(x) = (x^2 + 7x+10) / (x+2) = (x+2)(x+5)/(x+2) = (x+5) {for limit x--> -2}

f(-2) = 5-2 = 3

so a = 3
