At the end of the rail the kid's speed is down to 3 m/s. What is the kid's acceleration and how long did it take him to travel the length of the rail? In the above problem, if the kid weighs 130 lb, what is his mass and what is the net force acting on him? In example problem #2 for today, at what constant speed would Li' 1 Bro have to pedal in order to win the race?

1. v^2 = v0^2 + 2 a x

3^2 = 5^2 + 2*a*6

a=-1.33 m/s^2

v = v0 + a t

3 = 5 - 1.33*t

t=1.5 s

2. 130 lb = 578.3 N

m = 578.3/9.81= 59 kg

F = ma = 59*1.33=78.5 N
