Question
Some communities, counties and states have banned the use of plastic bags at retail and grocery stores. Suppose a researcher studying the social aspects of environmental issues wanted to examine the potential effects of imposing a ban on plastic bags. Two of the variables studied surveyed customers for information on shopping bag preference versus their level of education. Responses were recorded for a sample of 175 customers. The results of the survey question are shown below. Answer the following questions: Part A) At the .05 level of significance, is bag type selection independent of education level? Perform the appropriate test and make sure you include all required components of the Ho test procedure. Part B) If your find a relationship exists, describe the nature of the relationship. It is recommended that Minitab be used to compute the test statistics. If you use Minitab, provide a hard copy PRINT OUT of the results. If you hand calculate, you must show your work. An answer only will not receive full credit.

Calculated chi square =22.341, P=0.001 which is < 0.05 level. Ho is rejected.
There is enough evidence to conclude that bag type selection is not independent of education level.
Part B) If your find a relationship exists, describe the nature of the relationship.
Both are categories, it is not appropriate for nature of the relationship.
