His travel time from Davenport to Chicago is normally distributed with a mean of 160 minutes with a standard deviation of 7 minutes. 20. Assuming the two travel times are independent, what is the probability that the lowa City to Chicago trip takes less than 200 minutes?

here total mean time from Iowa to Chicago =55+160=215

and std deviaiton =(32+72)1/2 =7.6158

therefore probability that trip takes less than 200 minues=P(X<200)=P(Z<(200-215)/7.6158)=P(Z<-1.9696)

=0.024
