Question
2 pts Question 8 It is known that the length of a certain species of butterfly is normally distributed with unknown mean and unknown standard deviation. However, it is believed that average length of this species is 0.75 inches. A researcher disagrees with it and he believes that the actual average length should not be equal to 0.75 inches. To test his belief he takes a sample of 36 butterflies and found that the sample mean is 0.70 inches and the sample standard deviation is s-2.1 What test should be used for this test? O T-test z-testExplanation / Answer
As the standard deviation here is not know for the population but only the sample standard deviation is known, therefore t -test would be used to do the testing here.
If the population standard deviation was known then the Z test would have been used.
