Question
Application AA: A local employ 750 employees. Manage their employees and one that will enable you to predict the success of new hires. You have survey of the employees which you enter into SPSS Analysis. The results are: maquiladora keeps track of certain personal statistics on its employees. They ment wants you to set up a system for evaluating the performance of completed a CORRELATION MATRIX SUCCESS Intelligence Capitalistic Values 479 6221 Family ties REGRESSION MODEL 768 1 297 .089 109 Sig. 0.004 Adj. Your first job applicant took the new test and scored 135 (Intelligence), 4 (Capitalistic Values), and 2 (Family Ties). Your highest success rating for your scale is 69.75 based on the Constant + .524 422 .301 001 003 .122 Unstandardized "b" Coefficients times independent variable ratings. Your Capitalistic Value and Family Tie scales are 1-10 points with 1 - Totally Unacceptable,.., 10- Totally Acceptable. Your intelligence rating range is 110-160. As a result, your success scale range is 49.5-55.9 (Unsuccessful); 56.0-63.0 (Successful), 63.1-69.75 (Very Successful). a. (2 Pts) Within the Correlation Matrix, which pair of personal characteristics has the ighest correlation. (2 Pts) Given the different correlations, which pair of personal characteristics is most likely to show evidence of Multicollinearity. Define Multicollinearity and explain your answer. b.Explanation / Answer
In this problem
Dependent variable Y - Success
Independent variables are
X1 - Intelligence, X2 - Capitalistic values and X3 - Family ties
A) From the correlation matrix, it is observed that the relation between the "Intelligence" and "Success" are highly correlated ( r = 0.768 ). As I.Q of the student increases, his success rate is also increses. Therefore both variables "Intelligence" and "Success" are highly and positively correlated.
B) Multicollinearity: Multicollinearity means when there is a very high correlation between the two or more variables. One variable can predict the other variable. If the correlation coefficient is +1 or -1, indicates perfect multicollinearity.
e.g., Yield of crop depends on pecticides, crop, soil fertility, labour etc
From the correlation matrix, it is observed that Success ( Y ), Intelligence (X1), and Capitalistic values (X2) are seems to be like multicollinearity. Becuase theire correlation coefficeints are high in the series.
