Question

1. A large retail company encourages its employees to get customers to apply for the store credit
card. Below is the distribution for X = number of credit card applications received per employee
for an 8-hour shift.

X P(x)
0 0.27
1 0.28
2 0.2
3 0.15
4 0.08
5 0.02

a. What is the probability that an employee will get at least 2 applications during any
given shift?

Help: Can someone please explain this to me. Please do not copy and post answer from another CHEGG question unless you have read this question. The question says I need to find the probability for at least 2 applications. I do not believe it is x = 2 so the probability must be .20. This is because you are accounting for the probabilities of 2 applications and above, or 2 through 5. I need the correct answer please and thank you.

Explanation / Answer

Atleast 2 application means 2 or 3 or 4 or 5

P(Atleast 2)=P(2)+P(3)+P(4)+P(5)

0.2+0.15+0.08+0.02= 0.45
