This psychologist takes a sample of 100 40-year olds and asks them the following questions: (1) Did you attend college or university-yes or no? (2) Are you a first-bornionly child-yes or no? as we are dealing with 2 categorical varaibles
attend college or university
first born/ only child

Hence this is a case of 2 way anova

as we want to measure the variation of earning potential based on 2 categorical variables
attend college or university
first born/ only child

b)

We shall conduct a TukeyHSD test only if the results of the anova are statistically signficant
remember that anova is an omnibus test , it only tells that the mean values of the groups are different, atleast for 2 groups. Its doesnt tell which groups are statistically different

Hence TukeyHSD does a pairwise comparision and tells us which groups are exactly different

c)
Yes , we would look for the interaction effect of attend college or university and first born/ only child to see if together they have significant effect on thenumeric variable
earning potential
