1. O 6/8.25 points | Previous Answers DMy Notes Below are two tables based on the actual populations of Raleigh, NC and Wake County, NC from 1920-1990. Using Excel, create separate tables for t versus p for the Raleigh and Wake County data. (Note: Some of these values are randomized and may not exactly match the data you have seen in the lesson.) Years since 1900 goo Raleigh Population (in thousands) 20 24.4 30 37.3 40 46.8 65.6 93.9 122 150 212 Years since 1900 Wake County Population (in thousands) 20 75.2 30 94.8 40 109 136 60 169 228 301 423 a a

Explanation / Answer

Solution-

(a) After fitting the data in excel -

we obtain the following equation-

p(t) = 14.316 e0.0302 t

so r = 0.0301

and p(2010) = 14.316 * e0.0302*110 = 394.921

and p(2100) = 14.316 * e0.0302*200 = 5919.447

(b) After fitting the data in excel -

we obtain the following equation-

p(t) = 43.364 e0.0242 t

so r = 0.0242

and p(2010) = 43.364 * e0.0242*110 = 620.412

and p(2100) = 43.364 * e0.0242*200 = 5484.39

Raleigh has higher projected population for 2100.
