The efficacy of new screening test for HIV has been assessed by comparing against existing gold standard test for detection of HIV RNA via PCR. The study included I,ooo patients comprising of 820 HIV-negative patients confirmed on PCR. Out of 820 HIV negative patients confirmed on PCR, 60 were tested positive with the new screening test, whereas, 5o patients were tested negative on a new screening test. Based on these results calculate sensitivity, specificity, PPV and NPV for this new screening test and explain these results?
