Continuous variable: If the variable could take any value within a specific range of values is considered as Continuous variable. Also, if the variable could take countably infinite number of values is also considered as Continuous e.g. height of a soldier

Discrete variable: If the variable could take only countable number of values is considered as Discrete.

e.g. Number of students in a class, number of vehicles passing through a signal..etc
