Explanation / Answer

Whistleblowing, in general, has always been a negative factor and therefore it is strongly opposed in any line of work or business. Informing on one's own place of work, boss or any other concerned authorities while the process could be solved ethically and within the reach of the reason is both immoral and unjust. But, even with all the bad points, sometimes, in some cases, it also benefits the society. In the case of unjust business practices and environmental exploitation and other questionable actions being conducted by an organization which may affect the society on a different scale, presents whistleblowers and whistleblowing in a positive light.

Whistle-blowers are given protection for a reason. Their safety, anonymity and career might get affected due to their actions and therefore, the laws help protect it. Therefore, no matter the severity of the actions and the ethical issues with whistleblowing, they need to be protected by the law.

If a person is a whistleblowing just to get back at a company, no matter the information they provide their conduct is questionable and unjust themselves. It is hard within a company’s hierarchy to raise doubts, concerns and problems with the way a system is working, therefore, some people turn to whistleblowing but in fact, the entire process is dependant on the severity of the actions by a company. In such cases, they should be protected against the backlash of their actions but all their judgement should not be considered morally justified and impartial.
