From a product point of view the supplychain starts from the material producrement ( raw materials) then to processing, distribution and last mile delivery of goods to the customer will extend the chain of supply. Thus it covers everything from product development, production, information system etc. SCM is based on t idea that a product or services goes through series of chains of activity to get its fulfilment. It helps in detailed and functional oriented approach on each and every segment of it. ( like order management, inventory management, order fulfilment, transportation and logistics etc.)
2:FTL is full truck load where the shipper will provide a full truck for the shipment of products to the organisation. GThey will charge based on the size of the container or based on the distance to be covered. LTL is less than less than truck load where the company wont hire the truck fully and the rate wil be based on per kilogram or per pallet. The transporter can carry other goods along with a companys product in the truck .
3:Major modes of transportation are Air, Ocean. Road and Rail. All modes have its own unique features. Air is the fastes among the mode and ocean can be considered as the cheapest of it. Rail and ocean can carry bigger shipments compared to tother mode.Road mode is vital in case of last mile delivery to customers and also between mainland regions. Road is the most used mode for logistics depends on the connectivity and easiness of the transportation.
4:A third party logistics are companies who works with shippers in order to manage another company's overall logistics operations department. 3PL is a kind of outsourcing activities which are related to logisticsand distribution.Kuehne Nagel DHL all are examples of 3PL who act as carrying and forwarding agents for the organisation.
