Question
Please show how to solve! I need to do this on my own for a test! Thank you!
A random sample of undergraduate students recorded their height, shoe size and gender (1 = male, 0 = female). The shoe size and gender variables along with their interaction were used to predict the students height. This output is given below. Output is also given for the model with shoe size alone. Use this output to calculate the test statistic for the partial f-test to determine if we can remove gender and the interaction. Give your answer to 2 decimal places.Explanation / Answer
Answer:
Sum of square due to gender and interaction = 4173.82263-4107.82529 =65.99734
Df for gender and interaction =2
Mean Sum of square due to gender and interaction = 65.99734/2 =32.99867
Error mean sum of square=5.28251
F =32.99867/5.28251 =6.246779
Critical F (2,386) at 5% level =3.019
Calculated F=6.246779 > 3.019 the table value.
Gender and interaction effect is significant.
We cannot remove Gender and interaction.
