Question

Data Presentation and Interpretation: Choose one of the data sets below and respond to the prompt. (a) Correlation: Review the data below regarding the relationship between time spent watching TV and cholesterol level and report the findings in APA format. Explain in words what the results mean. (b) Regression: Review the data below regarding the predictor (Time spent watching TV) and criterion (Cholesterol level) report the findings in APA format. Explain in words what the results mean. a. Predictors: Time in minutes spent watching TV b. Dependent Variable: Cholesterol concentration a. Dependent Variable: Y b. Predictors: (Constant), X

Explanation / Answer

chosing dataset b

here dependent variable : cholesterol = y (Say)

independent variable : Time spect in TV = x (say)

regression line is

y=a+b*x+e

a and b are parameters and e is error of regression

our aim is to check y is depends on x or not.

for this purpose we perform a test that

H0: b=0 vs H1: b not equal to zero

we get a anova test for that and get p-value for the test ( from the ANOVA table ) = 0.000

so p-value < significance level =0.05

hence we reject H0, and claim that y denpends on x significantly.
