Help! I am trying to find a relationship between temperature and migration. How do I test for significance/correlation between one graph with variables of change in temperature over years, and another with variables of days until departure over years? Would I do a chi-squared to test for closeness of fit for a regression line of each and then a t-test to test the significance of correlation coefficient between athe two? Or would I convert each correlation coefficient into a z-score using Fisher's r-to-z transformation?

You can use a chi-square test to test the closeness of fit for a regression line and compute the correlation coefficient. You can further check the significance of correlation coefficient using a t-test where r^2/sqrt(1-r^2) will follow a student's t-distribution with n-2 degrees of freedom for null hypothesis,H0: rho= 0 vs alternative hypothesis.
