Question 2 c is optional , but an explanation of how to solve for the solution would too be appreciated.
Question 2 c is optional , but an explanation of how to solve for the solution would too be appreciated. Solve the following problems and show the details of your work: 1. Propane exists at 102 °C and 25 bar. Calculate its Z, HR and SR using: a. Redlick/Kwong Equation of State b. Peng/Robinson Equation of State 2. Four kilograms of steam in a piston/cylinder device at 400 kPa and 175 °C al and mechanically reversible process to a final pressure such that the steam is completely condensed (i.e., became a saturated liquid). Determine Q and W for this process: (a) Using steam Tables in Appendix F (b) Using generalized correlations and Equations (6.70-6.74). Comment on the accuracy of your answer. (c) Using generalized correlations and Clausius-Clapeyron Equation (see Example 6.5). Comment on the accuracy of your answer.

Explanation / Answer

2) work done in reversible isothermal compression

SINCE the process is isothermal in the 1 law of thermodynamics U= q + w , U= 0 so q = -w

w= nRT ln (P1/P2)
MOLES,n =1000*4 /18

R = gas constant

T= 175+273 =448k

initial presure given = 400 kpa, final pressure = 0
