Does anyone help me to solve this question, please? ><
Solar photovoltaic silicon cell arrays come in various configurations. In a system with six cells, three cells are connected in series to make a subsystem, the remaining three cells are connected in series to make another subsystem. and the two subsystems are connected to each other in parallel. The system functions if at least one of the two parallel subsystems work. A subsystem will work only if all cells in that subsystem work. Consider a particular lifetime value t_0. Let A_i denote the event that the lifetime of cell i exceeds t_0, (i = 1, 2, ..., 6). What is the probability that the system lifetime exceeds t_0?Explanation / Answer
from exponential distribution probabilty of a cell to exceed its lifetime =e-1 =0.367
hence probabilty that all 3 cells of a subsystem will work =(0.367)3 =0.0494
now probabilty that at least one of the subsystem works =1-P(none of the subsystsm works)
=1-(1-0.0494)2 =0.096
