Answers only Please don’t make it confusing Please be clear Please write or type neatly The RMC Corporation blends three raw materials to produce two products: a fuel additive and a solvent base. Each ton of fuel additive is a mixture of 1/2 ton of material 1 an 1/2 ton of material 3. A ton of solvent base is a mixture of 2/5 ton of material 1, 2/5 ton of material 2, and 1/5 ton of material 3. RMC's production is constrained by a limites availability of the three raw materials. For the current production period, RMC has the following quantities of each raw material: material 1, 20 tons; material 2, 16 tons material 3, 15 tons. Management wants to achieve the following Ps priority level goals Goal 1: Produce at least 35 tons of fuel additive. Goal 2: Produce at least 25 tons of solvent base. Assume there are no other goals a. Is it possible for management to achileve both P? level goals given the constraints on the amounts of each material available? Amount needed to Raw Material Achieve Both P1 Goals the amounts of each material available as constraints, formulate a goal programming model to determine the optimal product mix. Assume that both Pi priority level goals are equaly important to management. If you don't need the variable in the model, enter "o. If you need a negative number, enter necessary, enter the numbers as a common fraction
Explanation / Answer
Solved the a part of the problem, b parts contains few unknown, please check the problem, since the answer to part a is no, hence we cannot generate the required thing with that material, what is the material quantity to be used for right hand side of material 1, material 2 and material 3 equation
a)
Fuel require 1/2 ton of material 1 and 1/2 ton of material 3
Solvent base require 2/5 ton of material 1, 2/5 ton of material 2 and 1/5 ton of material 3
For producing 35 tons of fuel additive and 25 tons of solvent base
Material 1 required = 35 * 1/2 + 25 * 2/5 = 17.5 + 10 = 27.5
Material 2 required = 2/5 * 25 = 10
Material 3 required = 1/2 * 35 + 1/5 * 25 = 17.5 + 5 = 22.5
Hence it is not possible, since we have less quantity of material 1 and material 3 as required for the production
