Question

Suppose you had to figure out a tri-hybrid cross (dealing with three traits at once)! You will not be asked to do a Punnett Square for this, but you should be able to set it up. Suppose one parent organism is heterozygous for gene A, heterozygous for gene B, and homozygous recessive for gene C. Genes A, B, and C are each located on different chromosomes. Write that parent organism's genotype: List all the gametes that this parent could produce: Suppose an organism s genotype is: (That's considering 5 genes at once-assume each is on a different chromosome) Which of the following are gametes that it could not produce? For each, explain why not. ABCdE aBCDe ABCDE ABCDdE ACde

Explanation / Answer

Parental genotype according to question will be: AaBbcc

Nd 2. 4 Different type of gametes will form: ABc,Abc,aBc,abc

Ans 2: organism genotype is AA Bb CC Dd Ee

Which one not possible in form is

1. aBCDe. Reason for this:- this organism doesn't have " a " type of alleles in its genotype.

2. ABCDdE. Reason for this- gametes are haploid and posses only single type of allele not both so here Dd both are present thn it will not be possible.

3. ACde. It can't be form again bcas gametes must contain only one nd pure form of all alleles and in this case B TYPE of gene is missing.
