Question

3/2/2 Which test would you choose? You know that typically four out of every five turtles sampled is a box turtle. One day you take a sample of 10 turtles and find that only 5 are box turtles. Is this to be expected? You are interested in the relationship between gender and territory defense in wolves. You measure territory defense by "flight or fight" response-does a wolf stay and fight another wolf that comes into its territory, or does it run away? You count how many wolves of each gender chooses flight or flight. You want to perform the above procedure but there are only a small number of wolves to sample, so your expected values are k 5. Which test is best? Ashar exate

Explanation / Answer

1) We are given proportion. Here we need to test proportion box turtles.

Hence here we use hypothesis test for single proportion.

2) Here we are inerested in the relationship between gender annd territory defense in wolves.

Hence here we should use chi square test for indpendence.

3) If expected values are < 5 , we should use Fisher's exact test.
