a. First variable is number of visits made to dentist. This is quantitative discrete variable.

Second variable is Fear which is categorical with two values 1=fear going to dentist and 2= do not have fear going to dentist.

b. The parameter appropriate for this situation is µ1-µ2 where µ1 is the true average number of visits made to dentist by adults who fear going to the dentist and µ2 is the true average number of visits made to dentist by adults who don’t fear going to the dentist.

c. Confidence interval of difference in means or independent sample hypothesis test both would be appropriate. In case of confidence interval if confidence interval contains zero, we do not reject the null hypothesis, otherwise reject.
