Explanation / Answer

Q11) The region on the anuran mouth where tongue is attached-

Answer- At the anterior margin of lower jaw.

Explanation- Anuran tongue attached to the anterior margin of lower jaw and folds back over the floor of the mouth, so that they can capture the fast moving prey by their sticky tongue.

Q12) The name of the membrane that surrounds the embryo in an amniotic egg-

Answer- Chorion.

Explanation-  chorion is the outermost fetal membrane which surrounds the embryo in mammals, birds and reptiles. It develops from an outer fold on the surface of the yolk sac.Amniotic egg is produced by reptiles and birds

Q13) The type of amniotic skull that only has one temporal fenestra.

Answer- Synapsid condition.

Explanation- Temporal fenestration is used to classify amniotes. Texa like Anapsida, Diapsida, Euryapsida, and Synapsida were named based on their type of temporal fenestration. Temporal fenestra are large holes in the side of the skull. In synapsida there is  the presence of a single temporal fenestra .

Q14) The name of the ventral plate in the carapace of Testudines-

Answer- Plastron.

Explanation-Members of Testudines, are recognizeed by their tough shells, It consist of two main parts, they are the carapace, or dorsal or (top) part, and the plastron, or ventral (underside) part. These are connected with each other in the sides of the turtle to form the fused shell compartment.

Q15) The name of the articulated bone in the mouth of snakes that carries the fangs-

Answer- Maxilla.

Explanation- It is the highly movable bone of upper jaw, carries fangs , it allow snakes to capture it's prey.

Q16) The name of the transitional organism between dinosaurus and birds , whose name translates as " anicient wing written in stone"

Answer- Archaeopteryx.

Explanation- Archaeopteryx is a transitional organism between dinosaurs and modern birds. Having mix charachters of avian and reptilian features.Archaeopteryx means "ancient wing written in stone" .

Q17) The name of the conduit in the lungs of birds that has a unidirectional flow of air during the breathing cycle-

Answer- Airsacs.

Explanation-  Birds have air sacs inside their body. Air flows in one direction from the posterior air sacs to the lungs and out of the anterior air sacs. The flow of air is in the opposite direction compared to direction of blood flow, and gas exchange takes place more efficiently. This type of breathing helps birds to get the required amount of oxygen, at higher altitudes where the oxygen concentration is low .

Q18) The name of the structure that attache to the hooks in a birds feather and which ensures the rigid integrity of the vane-

Answer- Barbicels.

Explantion-

Vane of a feather is very complicated. It is made up of  barbs. The barbs are found in parallel rows, extending from the rachis. Along the barbs are structures called barbules. A single barb contains several hundred barbules. These barbules overlap with other barbules of nearby barbs. At the end of the barbules are barbicels –these are tiny hooks which connect barbules to each other, and interlock the neighboring barbs.as a result it ensures the integrity of the vane.

Q19) Alongside the intercostal muscles, this membrane helps to ventilate the lungs of mammalian -

Answer- Intercostal membranes.

Q20) The name of the granule that get displaced during movement of teh vertebrate semicircular canal.

Answer- Otolith.

Explanation- Vestibule contains twwo puches utricle and saccules, they contain jelly like fluid , granules of calcilum carbonate called otolith floats in this fluid , granules in the utricle move when there is vertical body movement, so otolith are the granules which get displaced during movement of vertebrate semicircular canals.
