Explanation / Answer

Answer 1. The species shown here is a bird known as Capuchinbird. Zoo signage includes the scientific name of the species i.e.  Perissocephalus tricolor. Other information includes the location where it is found and it is the low tropical forests of South America. The information about the "song" the male birds "sing" in groups is also given which is similar to cow mooing. Information about the courtship is also included in the zoo signage and it shows that only one "alpha male" mates with as many females as he can during the mating season and also the competing females and males try to disrupt the process. The last information that is shown on the signang is about the conservation status and it is shown that the bird is stable and not threatened or endangered.

Answer 2. If i had to guess i would have thought that it is closely related to the sparrows.

Amswer 3. My guess was not accurate but not completely wrong as the terms "passerine" and "Passeriformes" are derived from Passer domesticus, the scientific name of the house sparrows.

Answer 4. Apart from the information given in the signage i would have liked to know more about

What these species eat? Are they carnivorous or herbivores?

When their mating season starts and for how long?

What are the other related species of birds?

What historical and evolutionary changes this species has gone through?
