During middle school he dealt with a few bouts of depression, as many students do n dealing with puberty, girls, school dances and social pressures. He gets along well with his peers and has a dog named Hank that is his best friend. Extremely interested in competitive sports and coaching, Jason hopes to help with the school's football team; his dream is to be an assistant coach by his senior year. Jason also attends a wheelchair sports camp every sum- mer and enjoys water skiing, football, and bas- ketball. Jim is looking forward to working with Jason but knows very little about spina bifida and is concerned about Jason's safety in class.
