Question
You are trying to determine if addition of ZDDP and/or Molybdenum Disulfide to the oil of the fleet of hard-working trucks you manage makes significant difference. Since you do not have any plans to conduct lab testing, you simply required shop to mix one or both of the additives in ln varying quantities with oil. If in fact additives work, you should find treatments significant and use one or both of these additives in all trucks. Else, you will ask shop to stop mixing additives with oil. Considering 1% significance level. Here are your observations: Determine if you should continue using Molybdenum Disulfide as additive. Determine whether interaction between ZDDP and Molybdenum Disulfide is significant.Explanation / Answer

a). For Molybdenum Disulfide, F=180
Table value of at 1%, F(2,18) =6.01
Calculated F=180 > 6.01, the null hypothesis is rejected.
We conclude that Molybdenum Disulfide should continue as additive.
b).
For Interaction, F=13.5
Table value of at 1%, F(4,18) =4.579
Calculated F=13.5 > 4.579, the null hypothesis is rejected.
We conclude that interaction is significant.
