Here we have to find 90% confidence interval for the true proportion of masks of this type whose lenses would pop out at 250°.

Given values are :

n = 55

x = 11

c = confidence level = 90% = 0.90

90% confidence interval for true proportion is,

p^ - E < P < p^ + E

where p^ = x/n = 11/55 = 0.2

q^ = 1 - p^ = 1 - 0.2 = 0.8

E is margin of error.

E = Zc * sqrt( ( p^*q^) / n)

Zc we can find by using EXCEL.

where probability = 1 - a/2

where a = 1-c

sqrt((p^*q^)/n) = sqrt((0.2*0.8) / 55) = sqrt(0.0029) = 0.0539
