Question

Two stable owners want to compete. Each one picks a team consisting of her favorite horse and jockey and enters it in a two horse race which consists of a single lap. The faster horse wins and the owner of the winning horse wins the game. This is a feasible contest: the race will be over in a reasonable time. On the other hand, in the so called misere version of the race, the slower horse wins: the one which comes in second. Now, the owner could ask her jockey to hold her horse back, but it would transform the race into a very slow paced one. Can you run this race differently so that it will still be a race ending in reasonable time?

Explanation / Answer

1) Yes, for the Slow version of the Race you can set a time limit on the Race, now if till that time limit none of

the horses crosses the border finish line. Then the Horse more closer to the finish line would be declared as the winner.

But if before that time limit if any of the horse crosses the time limit , then the other Horse who crossed second would be declared as the winner.

2) Or Another Solution is we can set a mimimun speed limit on the horses, ( which no one should violate) and yet

one of that horse that crosses the finish Line second is the winner.
