Question

1.Home Improvement The amount of paint needed to cover the walls of a bedroom is 132x, where x is the thickness of the coat of paint. The amount of same paint that is needed to cover the walls of the den is 108x. How much is more paint needed for the bedroom than for the den? Express your answer as a monomial in terms of x.
2.The perimeter of a square is the sum of the lengths of all four sides.
a. If one side is of length s, find the perimeter of the square in terms of s.
b. If each side of the square in part (a) is doubled, find the perimeter of the new square.

Explanation / Answer

Paint needed for Bedroom = 132x
Paint needed for Den = 108x
Paint needed for bedroom , that is more than that need for den is the difference of two = 132x - 108x
   = 24 x

2) Each side of square is of Lenght s
Perimeter of square is sum of length of all four sided = s+s+s+s = 4s

2b) Now each side is 2s
So perimeter = 4 ( 2s) = 8s
