A research study wishes to examine the mean resting heart rate for 16 individuals among four different groups of exercises (evenly distributed to 4 individuals per group). What type of test statistic do you need to run for this type of analysis? What type of test statistic do you need to run for this type of analysis? Select one: Chi-Square Test of Independence ANOVAtest Linear regression T-test Pearson r test

Explanation / Answer

17) Ans:

b) ANOVA test is correct: ANOVA test is used when to compared the means of three or more groups. If group is 2, we can applied "Paired t-test. According to question 17, it want to test here is different or not in the mean resting rate by doing four different groups of excercises. ANOVA test is the appropriate test in this analysis.

18) Ans. Here is difficult to answer for this question without knowledge of heart rate and systolic blood pressure. To my knowledge, Heart rate, also known as pulse, is the number of times a person's heart beats per minute. And, the second number, called diastolic blood pressure, measures the pressure in your blood vessels when your heart rests between beats. If the measurement reads 120 systolic and 80 diastolic, you would say "120 over 80" or write "120/80 mmHg" [reference from google rearch].

Hence, using T-test is not suitable in these analysis. T-test is used when you compared the means (i.e., to check whether there is different in these 2 variable or not). From my knowledge, it is required to check how much change in one variable due to change in remaining variable (that is what should be the heart rate when systolic blood pressure is a particular value). To identified these relation we should used the "Linear regression". Therefore, the correct answer for these question is "c) Linear Regression".
