Here concept of Surface area will be used to judge if the wrapping paper A,B,C are sufficient to wrap the box-
Surface area of box = 2(15*9+9*4+15*4) = 462 unit2
Area which can be covered by paper A = 21*21 = 441 unit2
Area which can be covered by paper B = 16*30 = 480 unit2
Area which can be covered by paper C = 32*18 = 576 unit2
Since Surface area of wrapping paper A is less than surface area of box thus it will be too small to wrap the box.
Solution 4.
(a)Total allowance = $6 a week for 10 weeks= 10*6 = $60
(b) Total allowance = 1+2+3+4+5+6+7+8+9+10 = $55
(c) Total allowance = 0.1 + 2*0.1 + 22*0.1 +23*0.1.......... + 29*0.1
Sum of 10 terma of GP whose first term is 0.1 and ration is 2= 0.1*(210-1)/(2-1) = $102.3
thus plan c would be the plan which would get most allowance.
