Question
1. The bacteria R. sphaeroides is the cause of the disease Chlamydia. A culture of these bacteria initially has 25 bacteria and increases at a rate of 28% per hour.
Find the hourly growth factor a, and find an exponential model f(t)= Cat for the bacteria count in the sample, where t is measured in hours.
Use the model you found to predict the number of bacteria in the sample after 7 hours.
2. Find the point at which the graphs of the two linear equations intersect.
a. Y=2+x ; Y= 4/3 + 3
b. Y=9+x ; Y=6.6 + 0.6x
Explanation / Answer
Please post both the questions separately, I will only answer question 1st as per Chegg policy.
Hourly growth factor a = 1.28 (When the bacteria population is P, after one hour it becomes 1.28P, with 28% growth)
f(t) = 25*(1.28)t
where f(t) is population after t hours
f(7) = 25*(1.28)7 = 140
after 7 hours, 25 bacteria will increase to 140 assuming no baceteria will die.
