Question

19.7=x(1-.25)+y(.25) solve for x and y

Explanation / Answer

solve for x and y:   first 1-.25=0.75 so... 19.7=x(0.75) + y(0.25) same as: => 19.7=3x/4 +y/4 Since you have no set parameters, or any additional clarifications,I beleive there are infinitely many solutions, because there are norestrictions on x or y. others concur with me on this idea. First you can see the first 2 easiest solutions. 1 solution for an easy way to find a quick solution to x and theny: you can set y=0, then x=19.7/0.75=25.86666 with this method, x=25.85666, and y=0... check my method 25.856(0.75)+(0)(0.25)= 25.856(0.75)+(0)=19.7WORKS! 1 more solution for an easy way to find a quick solution for y andthen x: you can set x=0, then y= 19.7/0.25=78.80 with this method, x=0, and y=78.80 check my method (0)(0.75)+78.8(0.25)=78.8/4=19.7 WORKS! last method I can show you, so you understand my theory, use randomplugin: Just set x or y equal to whatever you want, and then solve for theother variable respectively. for instance, set x=-3.. then plug it in and solve for y plugging in -3 for "x" you get (-3)(0.25)+y(0.75)=19.7 therefore you find -0.75+19.7=y(0.75) continue.... 18.95=(y)(0.75) finish by solving for y = 18.95/0.75= 25.26666 so with this method, it is just another of infinitely manysolutions, where this time when x=1, y=25.2666 i think you should graph your equation and see what i mean aboutthe infinitely many solutions. i hope you understand my theory.private message me for further explanations where you may haveconfusion.
