Question 2. 17 marksl IChapter 4] In March 2017, the following e-mail was reportedly sent from the Republican National Committee HQ to their electronic mailing lists: Friend, Since even before Inauguration Day, Democrats, the media, and the entire opposition have tried to take down President Trump by resorting to nasty attacks and spreading fake news. But President Trump has fought back and been vindicated time and time again -and he will KEEP FIGHTING to deliver on the promises he made to you, the American People. Now we're conducting a poll to prove that the American people are behind our great QUICK POLL: Do you stand with President Trump? There were 2 options to select fromm: I Stand With President Trump or Believe Democrats and Fake News Clicking on either option redirected you to a website which, no matter which option was selected, once again asked if you stood with President Trump. It also prompted you to donate money to Trump and share personal information to receive future emails. For the purpose of this question, we will assume that this story is real and not fake news Also assume that after people selected one of the two options, the proportion that chose "I Stand With President Trump" was used to estimate the proportion of American adults that support Donald Trump. (We do not know whether this happened.) (Reference: (a Describe the population of interest for the survey. Mark] (b) Was the sample chosen randomly from the population of interest? Explanation / Answer

(a) Population- the American People

(b) Since the mail was sent to entire mailing list So it was not biased.

(c) Since the results which we get from the sample leads to a different result as compared to when we take the entire population So as we are getting wrong results So it is a serious threat.

This may be due to the errors in the selection of sample which may be self selection or biased selection to turn the results as desired.

(d) Self selection arises when individuals select themselves into the group, this is not a serious issue because in the large sample, the results may not be affected due to small set of individuals and since that individual is also the part of the population So it can be included in the sample.

(e) in the mailing surveys it is a potential problem because in such cases the response rate can be very low. So while taking the sample consider this thing in advance so accordingly take somewhat larger sample. This error arises due to lack of time with the respondent or may be respondent donot want to answer.

(f) Such errors arises when there is an error in the data collection process(not while taking the sample)

here question is biased that whether "you want to believe in fake news". instead the option should be such that i donot stand with president. So there will be error in the data collection
