Broadly there are two types:

Descriptive Statistics: Descriptive Statistics are used to understand the basic intrinsic properties of the data in form of summaries and graphical analysis.

Inferential Statistics:Inferential statistics is used in order to infer from the sample data how the population might be or behave or be.
