Question

#23
Bacteria, whale and human have the same protein start codon.

a. True Statement for all life forms have same similar protein start codon.
b. False statement; these are three different species so they can't have similar start codon for protein translation.
c. Not really sure of the answer but I believe that (a) & (b) above are somewhat correct.
e. Trick question, none of the above are correct (snide!).

#24

Garbage gene code would lead to garbage proteins synthesis.

a. True
b. False

Please help and explain. Thank you!!!

Explanation / Answer

#23 a. True Statement for all life forms have same similar protein start codon. AUG codes for methionine as acts as a start codon. It is universal.

#24 b. False

The garbage gene doesn't make garbage proteins. The most RNA molecules are intentionally destroyed by the cell so that the cell does not waste resources producing unneeded proteins. If a protein is formed from a normal gene and is no longer required by cell, it is destroyed by proteasomes.
