ssment/showtest.php?action skip&to; 9 Due in 13 hours, 29 minutes. Due Mon 0313/2017 1201 pr A block of ice with an initial temperature of -20°C is heated at a steady rate. The graph shows how the temperature changes as the ice melts to become water and the water boils to become steam and water. Water and Steam 100 Water 20 Water and loe 15 Note: The 2nd point on the line segment labeled A is(1,0). a. How long does it take all the ice to melt? minutes for all the ice lo melt. It takes b. From the time the heat applied to the block of ice, bow long before he water boils? minutes for the water to boil

Explanation / Answer

Dear Student

Thank you for using Chegg !!

As per the graph given in question

a) Time takeen for all ice to melt = 10 minutes

i.e. when the temperature begins to rise more than 0 so that it overcomes latent heat.

b) Time before the water boils = 20 minutes i.e. after temperature reaches 100 deg C

c) Slope of line segment marked A = Change in y coordinate / Change in x Coordinate

= (0-(-20)) / (1-0)

=20 degree C / min

d)   Slope of line segment marked B = Change in y coordinate / Change in x Coordinate

= (100 - 0) / (20 - 10)

= 10 degree C / min

Kindly note that as per Chegg guidelines an exprt can canswer at most 4 subpart of a given question at a time. Thank you !!
