Question

1. Compare your results with your prediction. If there are significant differences, hypothesize as to the cause.

2. For each pigment, write a summary sentence that describe your conclusion from this experiment.

Explanation / Answer

After comparing results with prediction there is no such significant difference.

Conclusion from experiment……

Chlorophyll a :- If we compare results with prediction it is evident that chlorophyll had two absorption peaks, one at 430nm and other at 662 nm absorbing light in blue and red regions. Amount of chlorophyll a was also maximum at these two peaks.

Chlorophyll b :- unlike chlorophyll a, chl b has two absorption maxima at 453 and 642 nm.it also absorbs light in blue and red regions.

Xanthophyll :- the maximim absorbance of xanthophylls is in blue region at 420 nms and a very small increase is observed in red region 660 nms.

Carotenes:- carotenes have maximum absorption at 460nms i.e in blue region.
