Question
one of the mutations that you found in your genomic library of groodie's DNA showed that they had a mutation of a histone that holds a nucleosome attached to the DNA. Otherwise the nucleosome is very similar to the human. What is the structure of the groodie's nucleosome? what histone was mutated in them?
so me and my friends are debating this question and we're stuck between H1 or H3
I say H1 and that nucleosome structure doesn't change but formation of 30nm solenoid structure is inhibited
but my friends say H3, and in the case of H3 they're saying the nucleosome will have looser DNA and so is less compact and cannot readily bind to the histone
Explanation / Answer
Answer - The second statement is true (H3).
explanation -If there is mutation in histone (H3) protein then nucleosome loosely bound with DNA and histone protein. Then solenoid formation is affected so it also affect the packaging of DNA.
