Example: Ben buys 2 hats and 5 scarfs for a cost of $111.John buys 4 hats and 3 scarfs from the same store
for $ 103.Find the cost of each scarf and each hat.
The problem would have two variables:
We can define x for no. of scarf and y for no. of hats
Now frame the equations.: 5x +2y =111 -----(1)
3x +4y = 103 ------(2)
Now: Now lets solve the two equations .We can use any method,I would choose eleimnationmethod
multiply equation 1 by -2 : -10x -4y = -222.Add the 2nd equation to first.
-10x -4y = -222
3x +4y =103
-------- -7x =-109 ----> y = 17 hats
Substitute value of x in any of the two equation we get x = 13 scarfs
So, solution 13 scarfs and 17 hats
Equations are used in business transaction, one exampls i the problem we just did.Another example would be:
Lets say Ben invests total money he has which is $10000 in two banks.Bank .He invetsts $3000 in bank A gives
that 10% interest and remaing amount in bankB.If earns $800 has total interset as profit at the end of first year,
