Question
Hello is there any way you could help me with problem 1 (which is in the first picture provided below). If you could explain the problem in detail and also use pictures. Also In order to do this problem I have provided the second picture below which are of the steps we must follow for this problem in order to do it. I am trying to explain to my niece so thank you so much again :) trying to make everything clear and easy follow. 1. Counting on Beanies Joanne sets up her Beanie Babies in a big circle with each beanie count an equal distance from its neighbors. She then proceeds to them in order around the circle. Unfortunately she track of where she started before she finishes counting. But she realizes that she can still figure out how many Beanie Babies are in the circle by noticing that the sixth Beanie Baby is directly opposite the seventeenth beanie. How many Beanie Babies are in the circle?Explanation / Answer
If 6 is across from 17, then there are ten Beanie Babies between them. Since everything is equi-distant, then there must be 10 Beanie Babies between them on the other side as well.
if 6th and 17th are opposite to each other, then 10 Beanie Babies are between them. so the same number of Beanie Babies should stand in other side too. 10 on either side and 6th and 17th Beanie Babies.
Beanie Babie number 6 and Beanie Babie number 17 are opposite eachother. All the Beanie Babies are evenly spaced.
If I count 6, 7, 8, up to 17, I get 12 Beanie Babies. There are 10 Beanie Babies, evenly spaced, on either side of 6 and 17, which
are at opposite ends of a diameter. Of the 10 Beanie Babies on the other side, I know there is 1,2,3,4,5
That leaves 5 more and they are greater than 17, starting
with 18 they go 18,19,20,21,22.
Total=22 Beanie Babies
