Total pay - y

sales - x

then, y = 21000 + 2% of x

or y = 21000 + (2x/100)

Now, y = $3000 * 12 (desired yearly salary)

y = $36,000

substituting in equation

36000 = 21000 + 2x/100

15000 = 2x/100

therefore, x = $750,000

I have to sell worth $750,000 to earn a 2% commission of $15,000 in order to get a desired total salary of $3000 per month instead of $1750 ($21000/12), which means that i will be earning $1250 per month from commission and that is 2% of monthly sales of $62500 ($750000/12)
