a. how many employees by type does the clinic currently need?
b. how many employees by type will the clinic need if it signs the contract foe pre-employment physicals?
c. if return visits shift to 10% of all regular visits, how many employees by tpye will the clinic need with and without the contract for pre-employment physicals?
d. How will the answers to "b" and "c" change if the number of physicals is modified to 35 pre-employment physicals per week?
Explanation / Answer
(a)
The clinic only needs full time employees such as physicians, nurse and receptionist.Because it is assumed that 50% of the return visits (125 visits) require less follow up time with the doctor so the entire load can be handled with the current staff.
(b)
The clinic only needs one contracted physician to do the pre-employment physicals because he/she can be on-call for when needed or the schedule can be set up where physicals can be set only on these days at specific times.
(c)
If 10% of 250= 25 this means first time visits equals 175 because 250-25 is 175. The first visits require additional time of the physician as it requires more than a return visit. The clinic can make sure to use a part-time physician in addition to the regular physician. The contracted physician will be only used for the physicals per their contract. So in this scenario we would be needing the current staff along with part-time physician in case of no contract for pre-employment physicals and in case of pre-employment physicals we have also contracted physician along with others.
(d)
If there are 35 pre-employment physicals per week instead of the total physicals then there will be total same nurse and receptionist but with 35 pre-employment physicals.
