(1) Sweden is focusing on innovative ideas for sustainable development and using energy efficiently.

(2) An innovative new concept of farming being implemented is vertical/skycraper farming called the Plantagon.

(3) Urban farming would use hydroponics (plant growth in media devoid of soil) for plant growth and help in supplying the same quality food as obtained from plants grown on soil.

(4) Nyagatan is a restuarant in Stockholm which uses organic/local methods to reduce carbon emissions contributing to sustainability.

(5) Solvatten water purification system uses sunlight to treat water (destroying the bacteria/disease causing pathogens) and making it safe to drink.

(c) Sustainable initiatives that can be undertaken include use of solar energy system/solar power and use of biofuels as an alternative source of fuel in vehicles.

(d) Use of coals, nuclear fuels and firing of natural gas is the major source of power being provided to the house hold and businesses. These sources of energy emit losts of carbon dioxide along with other greenhouse gases which negatively effects the environment. Although Cap and Trade is being used as an initiative to reduce the amount of greenhouse gas emissions, there is an utmost requirement of shifting to sustainable and renewable sources of clean energy to curb the environment problems.

(e) To save our climate from the ill effects of deadly greehouse gas emissions, we need to focus on the use of clean energy, for example the use of solar electricity instead of electricity generated from fossil fuels. Biofuels (Biodiesel for example) can be a good alternative as fuels in vehicles. Solar energy is not only clean, but also renewable. It can be used to generate electricity or heat water to kill pathogens and make it safe for drinking. Similarly, biodiesel is a renewable source and produces much less pollutants in comparison to petroleum products. Unlike petroleum products which can get depleted over time, biodiesel can be produced to meet the demands since it is produced from animal fat and biomass.
