Question
2Thermodynamics
Please explain clearly.
An electric motor draws a current of 10 amps with a voltage of 110 V. The output shaft develops a torque of 9.7 N-m, a rotational speed of 1000 RPM, and operates at steady state. Determine the following: a) The electric power , in kW. b) The power of the output shaft, in kW. c) The average surface temperature in degree C. if heat transfer occurs by convection to the surroundings at 21 degree C. Assume the convective heat transfer coefficient is 3.9W/K and that all losses due to haet transfer.Explanation / Answer
1 power=voltage*current
2. Power output of shaft=Torque*w=T*(2*pi*N)/60
3.Heat transfer through convection=h*A*dT=3.9 (21+273) W/m^2
