Question
Unfortunately, science and politics are too often at odds, and the real losers are the American people. A good example of this is political rhetoric on energy policy.
Look at this (http://www.politifact.com/subjects/energy/), from PolitiFact. Some of the comments are so outlandish it's hard to believe anyone could take them seriously (check the ones rated "pants on fire," which basically are devoid of any factual basis whatsoever), but people do, and the public conversation about the country's energy future suffers as a result.
Highlight in detail over 2 pages how politicians are using energy policy as an opportunity to score political points negatively affects the country's energy future and what you consider about the public's understanding of energy policy.
Explanation / Answer
Energy Policy is common for all irrespective of their political orientation. Generally political revelry force one part suspend another party policy to gain political mileage over the other.
This is not a healthy conditions for politics. Political party may be there or not but the energy policy should be there to follow a system in the country. All Political parties should follow energy policies framed by scientists. Then only country will benefit from using the electric power.
For example Obama government decided to coal mine and coal based thermal power plants. It was implemented to reduce greenhouse gases emission. So during Obama period many of thermal power plants and coal mines were closed. But it is not clear how much CO2 emission reduced due to coal mines and their power plants. But thousands of people lost their jobs and many power plants were closed down. How much loss to government no body bothered.
Now Trump government has come and it is in favour of opening of coal mines and generating electric power based on coal ad other fossil fuels. Now think how much efforts to put revive the old coal mines. At the same time they have to revive the power plants to utilise the coal mines now. How much budget going to consume to bring all closed mines and power plants to bring to normalcy.
This shows how political parties interference damaging the economy. Making people poor and creating shortage of power. In fact Obama government shouldn’t have closed the mine. Should have framed policy not open new coal mines and their power plants.
These decisions should be left for scientists. As scientists decisions are for people benefit and for environmental protection. But politician decisions depends on winning people votes to form a government. Neither Politician aware of power policies nor public. People vote for their favourable candidate to run the government. But is not for drastic changing of power policy and wasting public resources.
Now the two different decisions of Obama and Trump going to bring heavy losses to government and people. But no body is bothered about it how losses we incurring due these wrong decisions. Government run politicians should give full freedom to scientists to make policies and implement with government support. Not politician takes decision and implement. Such political activists bring great losses to economy.
Now America producing shale gas to generate power in place of coal fuels. This is being done with support of Obama government. Now Tramp government may take negative decisions as this shale gas productions and their power plants are brain child of Obama. Trump government has come by defeating Obama government. They may go for coal mining and coal based power plant to get political advantage. That is very harmful thing to suddenly change one policy in which the politician is not interested. Now if the industry closed there will be huge loss to government and to the public.
So the energy policies decisions should be left to scientists who can plan and implement them with the support of government. Politicians should follow scientific advisor and implement decisions framed by scientists.
