Explanation / Answer
(A) The method works on the base of avg. life period, half life period. we can call it as uranium dating.
(B) In this method we use uranium dating, thorium dating. sometimes, we also use carbon dating method. so the materials are uranium, thorium, carbonate, phosphates, organic matter mainly.
(C)Uranium's half life period is greater than carbon. so it helps the better ancient climate.it alsa gives the better idea of the ancient ice, meteorites, glacier, mammalian fossils.
(D) Limitations
U-Th dating has an upper age limit of somewhat over 500000 years ,defined by the half-life of th-230, the precision with which one can measure the Th-230/U-234 ratio in a sample, and the accuracy to which one know the half lives of Th-230 and U-234.
(E) U-Th dating is more accurate if applied to precipitated calcium carbonate that is in stalagmites, travertines, and lacustrine limestones. Bone and shell are less reliable. Mass spectometry can achieve a precision of+/-1%. Convential alpha counting's precision is +/-5%.
