For r to equal 1, it means that if we construct a line that goesthrough any of the two given points, it will include all of thegiven points. For the first one, let's use the points (1,1) and (2,3). m = (3 - 1) / (2 - 1) = 2 y - 1 = 2 * (x - 1) y - 1 = 2x - 2 y = 2x - 1 The line clearly goes through (1,1) and (2,3) since those were thepoints used to construct it. This means that it willautomatically go through the first three points given (as the 3rdpoint is the same as the 2nd). The fourth point willtherefore be: y(4) = 2 * (4) - 1 = 7 Now, let's do the same thing again for the new table. There'sno need to reconstruct the line since the first two points are thesame. Thus, the line from the previous problem should fitthis data as well. Plugging in x = 3, we find... y(3) = 2*6 - 1 = 5 However, the table says that when x is 3, y is actually 4.
