Question
0.25p A survey company recorded the annual net incomes of 15 farmers, and calculated the mean and median of these figures. It was late discovered that the farmer with the largest reported income had lied about his income: he reported an income lower than the true f Compared with the originally recorded values of the mean and median, the correct mean and median will both be higher O the correct mean will be the same, but the median will be higher O we can't say anything about the values of the correct mean and median; it depends on the particular incomes O the correct mean will be higher, but the median will be the same the correct mean and median will be the same as the original valuesExplanation / Answer
The correct mean will be higher, but the median will be tha same.
Mean will increase as one of the values is increasing, which eventually increases the total sum and hence mean too, as Mean = Total/number
Median is the middle observation when arranged in ascending or descending order. Since there are 15 observations, 8th value would be the median. So, it would remain same as ony the highest earning farmer is lying. So, 8th value would be unaffected and median would remain same.
