The 2 main exoplanet detection methods are: Radial Velocity Method and Transit Method.
In radial velocity method, the effects of the variation of the radial velocity of the star with respect to the Earth is taken into effect. Doppler effect causes displacement of spectral lines of the parent star and thus, the radial velocity is calculated from this. A planet's mass can be deermined with this method.
In Transit Method, a photometric effect is taken to find out the radius of a planet.
